OUT OF WARRANTY REPAIR COSTS

In order for Nikon to facilitate your servicing needs quickly and efficiently without compromising our high standards of service we are implementing an automatic repair system for all chargeable repairs under or equal to a specified amount. This will allow us to repair your equipment without having to wait for a response and also increase our ability to return your equipment to you sooner.

Effective 1st June 2009 any chargeable repair received by Nikon will automatically be repaired if the cost equals or is less than the prices indicated below.

If you require an estimate for repair to your equipment, even if the cost is below the pricing indicated above you will need to request this at the time your unit is left with Nikon Service Division. If you are sending your equipment to Nikon then please ensure you indicate an estimate is required even if under the indicated prices above.

Nikon will automatically accept that the above pricing is approved and will repair your equipment accordingly if no request for an estimate is given.

For all out of warranty repairs that require an estimate, a $44.00 inc/gst fee, per item, will apply and if you require Nikon to return your equipment via courier an additional $9.90 inc/gst, per item, will also apply. If you accept the estimated repair amount then the estimate fee is absorbed into the total repair costs and only the repair fee is charged. However if you choose to decline the repair of your equipment the estimate fee will be required before your equipment can be returned to you.

Please ensure you provide all required paperwork if you are claiming warranty, otherwise your equipment may be repaired and a charge assigned accordingly.

Please respond to the estimate within 7 days of receiving notification otherwise we will consider the estimate rejected and your repair will be finalised.

SENSOR CLEANING COSTS

It is important to consider the following when requesting a sensor cleaning for your camera and lens. In order to get the most from your equipment you will need to have all the lenses you use as well as the camera cleaned. Without doing so may result in little to no improvement in image viewing quality. Cleaning the body only will not ensure that the lens is clean and this may then result in the lens transferring dust to the body reversing any results from the body cleaning.

Dust you see in the viewfinder will not affect the image.  If the dust is on the focusing screen, the screen can be cleaned for an additional charge, but if it is deep within the viewfinder prism, it requires a complete and expensive camera strip down to remove. In some cases your lenses may also require internal cleaning. A separate evaluation would be applicable in this situation, please refer to our Nikon Service terms and conditions.
